Problem:

1. Failed to uninstall HIPS from ePO client task
2. Failed to uninstall HIPS manually
3. Forget the HIPS password and cannot communicate with ePO server for replace password

Solution:

-Start the computer in safe mode
-Disable the startup of HIPS Service
-Restart the computer in normal mode.
- Uninstall HIPS Manually - from add/remove program.

If still you failing to uninstall the Hips, 2 options:
1. Download Hips-Uninstaller, For Download Click here (also good in a Partial deletion/uninstall)

2. Uninstall HIPS by the procedure of McAfee go to the link:

I cannot disable HIPS even boot in safe mode. When I click the add/remove , it showed that "self protected password.....". The server don't have the EPO and we forgot the unlock password. How can I disable or uninstall the HIPS ? Please advise! Thank you very much.

Hi,

1. You can try the default password "abcde12345".
2. which version of HIPS is installed? which other McAfee product is installed and version? - Maybe the McAfee agent or the VSE/ENS protect it
3. you can go to the registry to get the msiexec command for uninstall this version.
4. Today you can download from the McAfee download center(with a valid license) a remove tool to all McAfee endpoint prodroduct(it's in the end of the list)
